Lynnette spearheaded Japan relief fundraiser at her school & got a short feature on KHNL!

Lynnette organized a fundraiser for the Japan relief efforts with origami cranes and other items at her elementary school. The 4th graders have already raised more than $1000 at her school! KHNL did a short news clip on it which airs tonight at the 530pm and the 6pm news! Here is the online article:

Our good friend Gil and her daughter Gabrielle (my Goddaughter), who are from Hawaii, just happened to be in the LA area so we met up for dinner. Gil's Aunty joined us too and navigated us to Chinatown for some delicious chinese food at "Full House Seafood". It was great to see them out here in LA. Thanks Gil for blessing us and buying us dinner!!!

We were blessed today!...

We were invited by Lynnette's friends from high school, Kyra and Larry, to visit their church (Life Church in Kailua), after they heard about our upcoming mission to the Philippines. The church has big heart for ministry in the Philippines, and we had a chance to share what we'll be doing when we move out there. They surprised us by praying and taking an offering for us, we are so grateful and blessed! This was Lynnette's church when she went to school here from 7th to 10th grade (when it was called Redemption Academy)

Below is a pic of Lynnette doing a little "devil stomping" dance, after Kyra had all the women come to the front to participate in a song.

Hanging out at Converge's "Guys Night In" event. Poker, billiards and an unusual amount of chicken

We had our Converge (our young adult/college ministry) event tonight. All the guys got together to play some pool, some poker and eat. What happens when a bunch of guys have a potluck? Well, we had fried chicken from foodland, fried chicken from Safeway, chicken mcnuggets, kfc chicken wings, grilled chicken, rotisserie chicken, chicken katsu, cookies and a bag of doritos...

Chillin in Colorado springs...literally. A little snow and temp around 25 degrees F

Woke up to a little snow this morning. Before you leave you have to give yourself an extra 15min, 10 min to start the car and let it warm up, 5 min to scrape the ice and snow off your windows. Here in CO for 2 weeks taking Fuller Seminary classes.

Happy Thanksgiving! Cooked our first turkey and helped feed a bunch international students that were shuttled down from UH to Hope Chapel West Oahu

Our friend Aspen invited a bunch of international students to her house for their first thanksgiving lunch, when we heard how many people were coming a bunch of us from church ("Converge" - young adult ministry) decided to help her out and used one of the rooms at Hope Chapel West Oahu. There were about 30 people there!...from Norway, Germany, Denmark, Japan, Australia.

We cooked our first Turkey and David Song did his first ham, no one threw up...so not bad for a bunch of rookies.

Excited to have seen Lynnette do announcements for the first time, even with the manly voice...

Tonight was a great night at Hope Chapel West Oahu's women's service and hundreds of women showed up. Lynnette was the announcements person for the night, but she barely had her voice (lost it a few days ago). All that could be heard was the unusually deep raspy sound that came out of her mouth. Despite that she did an awesome job on stage.

Spending the afternoon inspired by friends who are going for it...

Met with Truman and Elizabeth to get some advice and encouragement regarding long term missions, as Lynnette and I look forward to the Philippines. They are temporarily in Hawaii, and we didn't want to miss the chance to glean some wisdom from them before they go back to China.

Afterwards we went to Alex Cheng's send off service at New Hope Diamond Head. He's heading off to Taiwan to help the new church plant over there as a long term missionary. It was awesome to see what God is doing in his life, and to see the incredible community of people that he has behind him. The group picture below was probably just half the people that were actually there.

Vball for my bday, now the pain begins...

It was a great birthday wish come true. I've been wanting to play some good volleyball again and so Lynnette organized it and made it happen for me. It was awesome, 3 hours of four on four action and fortunately in the end my team won...otherwise we'd have to keep playin. The only drawback is the 20 or so muscles in my legs that are now getting back at me for not using them in the past 6 months. Thanks to all the people who were able to make it!

After working up a healthy appetite, we headed over to Ramen-Ya in Pearl City. They give generous portions of food, and their fried rice is awesome.

Awesome bday gift just came in...

Now I'm ready to go back to school! Super light, reads great in sunlight, almost a fifth the cost of an iPad!!! My class at Fuller starts Monday and I can have all my books in the palm of my hand with a few simple clicks!

Lynnette and I stopped by my brother's place the other day, it was great to see little Hannah...she was so cute with her little black crayon that she would not let go of. I imagine she'll become an artist one day, either that or one of those kids who likes to eats crayons.

Great turnout at the first women's ministry service

I was blown away by the first "Arise" (HCWO's women's ministry) service. Why would I be at such a service? I was just a backstage volunteer, but I was there to also support Lynnette who, of all people, was in charge of the all tech ministries for this service. Even though she knows little about tech stuff, she knows a lot about recruiting volunteers who want to learn it.

Lynnette reeled in interviews with the candidates...and I edited my first gubernatorial video masterpiece

Somehow Lynnette managed to organize one on one interviews with the top Governor candidates in the midst of this busy campaigning season, for her school wide "Kids Vote" project that she is responsible for. With her tiny point and shoot Canon Powershot Elph on "movie mode", she filmed all her hard hitting interviews led by a couple of her 4th grade budding political journalists. In addition to getting spots with Duke Aiona, Neil Abercrombie and Mufi Hannemann, she even managed to squeeze out a personalized video message to her school, from Governor Lingle.

I've been wanting to dabble in video again, so Lynnette gladly had me edit everything together. It is 6 minutes of "award winning" video editing that transforms unorthodox point & shoot camera footage into a journalistic masterpiece (I love iMovie templates). You'll laugh, you'll cry, it will become a part of you, unfortunately you will never see it...unless of course you roll with the "in" crowd at August Ahrens Elementary school (the "in" crowd of course being all the students and teachers in the school).
